Our Baja trip notes

I took all kinds of great photos along the way as we drove a new route to Todos Santos in Baja. But I forgot to bring the camera cord with me so I could download the photos to show you. Boo hoo. I’ll still tell you about our trip though. Greg and I have differing opinions on our trip because he was the driver and I was the passenger. From my perspective, I loved this new route! Mainly because it was…

My art videos are inspiring others

I have some art videos on youtube and they’ve been inspiring others! I think this is wonderful and I love it when people share their art with me. One Etsy artist, Christina Colwell, at helixartandglass wrote me this nice note. Hi Lindy, I just wanted to share with you and thank you for making available some painting demonstrations on You Tube. I’ve been playing with some of your techniques which I just love. Anyway…here is the end result of most…

Working with a Brighter Yellow

I didn’t realize I needed a brighter yellow until I went to order some new paint. I had been using Cadmium Yellow Medium but I ordered the plain Cadmium Yellow when I noticed the medium looked a little muddy next to the plain on my computer screen. Sure enough,  now that I’m working with it, I do like it better. Sharing is nice FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestStumbleUponemailTumblr

Pinterest for Artists

I think Pinterest is great for artists to share what inspires them. At first I read a lot of articles about copyright issues with posting other peoples images but Pinterest has addressed most of these concerns so I recently started using it. If you like sharing and looking at beautiful or fun visual images, then you will like Pinterest. I’ve always been a collector and had bulletin boards in my studio to pin things to that inspire me so now I can…

I have a new Website using the WP Photocrati Theme

Welcome to my new website. I wanted to make a seamless transition between my website and blog so I made everything using WordPress. My old website used an html template and WordPress for my blog. I tried importing all my old posts to this new format and I’m still working on getting everything transferred over. I’ve used the WordPress Photocrati Theme which is a format for photographers. I think it makes a nice format for artists too and I’ve modified…

25 Ways to Uplift Your Spirit

I have a big interest in nutrition, healthy living and self-improvement so when I discovered a website called Voyage to Betterment, I had to spend some time there to see what it was all about. It’s interesting how one’s path is led to certain topics of interest. I don’t even know now how I got to this website but it is very interesting! I’ve been watching the video they have there. I recommend it for watching. You can learn about…

She Wanted the Rainbow

We saw a lovely rainbow behind our house the other day. It was so inspiring and peaceful to look at. Looking at rainbows, reminds me of a Dolly Parton quote… “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” – Dolly Parton …and my painting that was inspired by it. She Wanted the Rainbow Print > And then, Greg and I, as we were looking at the rainbow, recalled the day that…

A painted mailbox project

This mailbox came back into my life recently and I am thrilled to start using it as our family mailbox for our Prescott home. I painted this mailbox back in 2001 for the Creative Department where I worked. The project was to create a mailbox that could be used for the employee of the month. The special person would put it on their desk for a month while they were temporarily spotlighted. I was chosen, or maybe I volunteered, I…

Online Art Sale of Mini Paintings

Are you looking for some affordable original art? A cute gift to give someone special? I have colorful mini paintings for sale. I’ve been inspired by the idea of “paint what you love” that Flora Bowley talked about in her painting e-course. I had a square of material that had cowboy boots on it. I had purchased some soap that was wrapped up in it. I love this piece of cloth and had it in my studio. Inspired, soon I…

Development of a painting – Protecting the Nest III

I was painting about a dozen canvases and pieces on wood while I was taking the Bloom True e-course by Flora Bowley. I’m still working on some of the pieces and they are developing and changing and don’t look anything like the way they started. It’s always interesting to me to watch a painting develop. In the future I’ll be posting some of these pieces to show you. What I love about the Bloom True e-course is you can take…

Mini painting sale sneak peak

I’ve been having fun painting feathers. There’s something about feathers that inspires me. Maybe it is their symbolic meaning of lightness or nesting. Or maybe flight and taking off on adventurous journeys. I just like them and I like collecting them and now I like painting them. This is one of my small feather paintings that will be available in my mini painting sale coming up in April. I’m also working on some minis which include 5″ x 5″ canvas…

What I'm Learning in the Bloom True e-course

I am really loving the Bloom True e-course by Flora Bowley. It’s such a nice mix of video’s, instruction, interviews, sketchbook time, gratefulness, yoga, etc. It is truly a mind, body, spirit type of class and it is just what I had hoped it would be. I understand why it is titled the “brave, intuitive you” e-course. It definitely takes being brave to push oneself to make authentic paintings based on the symbols, and marks from one’s intuitive and true…

Learning new approaches in my art

As I wrote earlier, I’m taking the super awesome painting e-course by Flora Bowley called Bloom True. But it’s not just about painting! It’s about intuition, meditation, playfulness, yoga, letting go, not judging, trusting the process, being open and a whole lot more! I just love it! I’m painting on 2 canvases (actually wood boards) for the class but then I have a bunch more pieces I’m working on too.  I’m incorporating what I’ve learned from the course with a…

My 10 essentials list for being an artist

This list started out as my 10 essentials list for being an artist. But then it morphed. After thinking about each essential, I expanded on them with some description. And then the descriptions started to grow and encompass more than the essentials but that’s okay. It made me think about what I need and made me grateful for being an artist! This list is in no particular order. 1. paint:  acrylics, thick and fluid types, all the primary colors plus…
