Inspirational Positive Affirmations Card Decks are here

You may recall that in 2010 I designed some mini inspirational card decks. I did a blog post about them and sold them in my Etsy Shop.  I now have new card decks for 2013! I’m a big fan of the idea that words are important! I was inspired by the book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. One of the agreements is “Be impeccable with your word.” Louise Gale says, “Choosing good thoughts and feelings and reacting to…

#twitterartexhibit created by David Sandum and my “Flying From a Leap of Faith” Art

I’ve finished and mailed my #twitterartexhibit piece titled “Flying From a Leap of Faith.” It will be entered into the Twitter Art Exhibit in L.A. I donated a piece last year to the exhibit when it was held in Moss, Norway. This year it’s in Los Angeles on January 12, 2013. The Twitter Art website says, “Twitter Art Exhibit: Los Angeles is the third installment of an open international exhibition of handmade postcard art for charity, donated by hundreds of participating artists from around…

Today is one of those days

My camera broke again and my computer (but I fixed that one). It’s been one of those days. It seems lately a series of events have been getting in the way of me accomplishing some of my goals. So I’m stepping back. It may be awhile before I post anything here. I’m going to take a break from blogging and put my energies into some other projects. I hope to be back at some point. I know you’ll understand. I…

Hope you had a fun Halloween

Hope you had a fun time yesterday with Halloween festivities. We carved pumpkins in the evening and then went downtown to Mt. Vernon Street to look at the decorations. In Prescott, there is a tradition that the houses along Mt. Vernon Street get all dolled up for Halloween. They close off the streets and people go and trick or treat and have fun looking at the Halloween decorations. It was a great way to celebrate Halloween. Three Treasures from the Day

Our Native American Acoma Wedding Vase that we’ll use in our wedding ceremony on September 22. We purchased it from Vision Quest Traders and it’s made by Santana Phillips. We love the design.   Peace cranes that I’m folding for our wedding decorations. I learned how from a diagram I found on the web.   Greg’s wedding ring arrived in this gold box in a sparkly pouch! Fun! We bought it from the Silvercrush Shop on Etsy. Sorry you can’t see…

Whimsical prints with quotes and sayings

One of my favorite things to make besides my paintings are the items I make using pieces of my art made into other things like prints. I’ve just created a new line with words and quotes. I’ve been saving lyrics, quotes and sayings in empty books since 1975 when my parents gave me my first empty book as a gift. I quickly filled it up and purchased another and now I have 6 inspiring books filled to the gills. It…

Update on what I’m working on in the studio

These are the peace tree paintings I worked on yesterday in the studio. They still have more layers to go but this shows a good start. I build up layers with the black. I especially like the way it looks like aspen markings in the tree trunk.   I mainly worked on the two on the left yesterday. Today the one on the right is calling to me. I like watching them progress by taking the photos.   Sharing is…

We Love Baja Sunsets

Our last trip to Baja was in July. We had an awesome time. Here is another post about our trip. When we’re in Baja, just about  every evening we either go to the beach or go up to the upstairs patio to enjoy the sunset. We always are in awe of the beauty! If we’re lucky, we can see the spot of green glow that the sun makes right before it goes down over the horizon. We pause and wonder…

What I saw on my walk – Prescott, Arizona

I’m often asked what inspires me with my art. Nature inspires me in a big way. There is a trail near our house that I like to walk to get out in nature. It’s an easy walk and I always feel refreshed after I come back. This video is from my walk on Aug. 1st, 2012. I made it rather quickly using Graphic Converter and iMovie on my mac. There isn’t any music, just images. Enjoy! What inspires you with…

We camped at La Ventana, Baja Mexico

During our Baja stay, we went over to an area west of La Paz called La Ventana to go camping for 2 nights. It’s exciting to go somewhere we’ve never been before. We had been in a cafe in Todos Santos having chips, salsa and a margarita when we struck up a conversation with Larry from Captain Kirk’s Wind Surf Resort which turns out is located in La Ventana. The very town we had been talking about going to! I just…

New Acrylic Hummingbird and Garden Painting

I’ve finished some new paintings and I’ll be posting them here in the weeks to come. It’s been fabulous painting again in my Baja studio! I love the light and looking at palm trees and the view of the ocean. I feel very grrateful for the opportunity to create art in this kind of setting. I’ll first put my new work on the VIP page of my website for those who have access to view first and then a week later I’ll…

L. Gruger Art on Cross Stitch Patterns and Kits by Gecko Rouge

I’m thrilled to announce that my art has been licensed to be on Cross Stitch Patterns and Kits by Gecko Rouge! They are a UK company and great to work with! You can find the Cross Stitch Patterns and Kits on their website or in their Etsy Shop. They’ve had a Classique Etsy Shop where my art has been selling but they’re decided to close the doors on that shop soon and combine their two shops into one. So my art is…

We took the Topolobampo Ferry to La Paz

This is the last post about our road trip down to Todos Santos in Baja Mexico from Prescott, AZ. We headed out of San Carlos to the Topolobampo ferry and got there 3 hours ahead of time, as the bajaferries.com website suggested. If we knew the ferry was going to leave at 8 pm instead of 5 pm, we might not have rushed to get there! We got our ferry ticket and walked the dogs and gave them water before we got…

More Baja Trip Notes

Here’s a little video of me in the studio and then the continuing story of our trip to Todos Santos, Baja, Mexico.   After we got our auto import permit for our truck outside of Nogales we were on our way to San Carlos where we were going to spend the night. It’s a pretty uneventful drive. Straight roads almost the whole way so that it feels like you’re just driving and driving and driving and the landscape is pretty…
