I’m trying to figure things out and move all the content from my other Blog to this one. Right now I only have from about Aug. 2008 to March 2009 transferred.  I can’t seem to get the contents to transfer over for the rest of the blog. I may…

First Moonheadmama Painting Finished

“She Sang a Garden Lullaby to Moonbaby” 14″ x 11″ Acrylic on Paper Unframed I finished my first Moonheadmama painting this afternoon. #1 in the series. I’ve always loved the title Moonheadmama and I’ve had a web site by that name for about 5 years. It was here in Todos Santos over a couple margaritas and some creative brainstorming that the name Moonheadmama was born. But since then I haven’t done a lot with the Moonheadmama.com web site so recently…

Tiny Art Collection and "Shortpants"

I like tiny art. I’ve always liked to collect things too. So I’ve started a Tiny Art Collection of some of my Lyrical World paintings as very small prints. They will fit neatly in your own 5″ x 7″ frame. The actual image size is 4.6″ x 6.7″. You can see and purchase the first two at my Imagekind online store. Buy them as a petite print and I suggest the UltraSmooth Fine Art paper as the paper choice. I…

Painting Rocks and Garden Walls

When was the last time you painted rocks? It always reminds me of my childhood. We had a family beach cabin and in the summer time once in awhile we would collect beach rocks and sit and wile away the afternoon painting rocks. I always remember it as being fun! So that is what I did yesterday. Paint rocks. When they’re finished, I’m going to put them in what we are calling the “circle garden”. See below. This is an old…

Twinkly Star Detail

There’s something about stars. Twinkly stars. I love them. And they add so much to the atmosphere in my Lyrical World paintings. I’ve been adding stars to my paintings off and on for quite sometime. I used them in my 2007 Jubelale painting and they looked like snowflakes. Snowflakes and stars are magical elements.I almost forgot about the star detail today. I was sitting back and studying my painting and I was thinking “What does it need?” and it came…

A Day in the Art Studio

Thought I would show you what I worked on yesterday in the art studio.First of all, let me introduce Belle, my trusty art studio companion. She’s a very sweet border collie and loves hanging out wherever I’m hanging out. You can see she wasn’t too interested in getting my attention. She’s happy just being nearby. I finished putting on the last coat of acrylic spray over the top of my Two Ravens painting. This coating helps protect it as well…

2nd Raven Cactus Painting

I finished the 2nd Raven Cactus painting. It’s on the right. I felt the one on the left needed a companion. The one on the left is titled “Raven Searches for Home”, the one on the right is “Two Ravens Watching the Sunset”. This makes me want to do a third one, titled “Ravens Watching the Moon”. I love making paintings with Moon in the title. We’ll see what I come up with next. PR: wait… I: wait… L: wait……

Raven Painting and Cactus

The painting on the left is titled “Raven Searches for Home”. I decided it needed a companion piece to go with it. So today I’m working on another Raven painting. It has 2 ravens in it as well as a cactus. Here in Todos Santos and the surrounding Baja desert, there are lots of cactus. Some are huge and some smaller. I’ve also started some lyrical world paintings that include the raven in them. Combining two of my favorite themes,…

Baja Beach Story

This is where we were headed last Sunday. We call it the Hidden Harbor. I hadn’t been there in 2 years (that’s an old photo on the left) and I wanted to show it to Greg who has never been there. It’s this beautiful beach here in Todos Santos but it is over hill and dale and quite a feat to get to. We were going to ride our mountain bikes and take the dogs with us. You have to…

Whimsical Mug

On my last post, I was saying how I love to make things. And I do. I just love making things with my art. That’s why I have Greeting Cards and my zazzle store. So I made a mug from my new painting “One Played While the Others Flew”. You can change the color of the inside of the mug which I think is really cool. I’ve put a saying on it too at the bottom in white that reads,…

Painting Technique Videos

I’ve had people ask me how do you do that when they’re looking at my paintings. Sometimes people think my paintings are prints. Other’s think I’ve used airbrush on them. So I decided to make some videos to show some of the techniques I use in my paintings. You can view them at http://www.youtube.com/user/LindyGrugerHanson The first one is on how I start a painting and the second one is on using my less dominant hand (left hand) as a painting…

Painting technique video and whimsical paintings

I made my first artist videos yesterday. I’m going to be posting a few videos regarding my painting technique. They are short and a little rough around the edges but they were fun to make! The first one will be about how I start a painting. The others are about how I get the texture and line work in my paintings. I’ll post a link to my youtube videos after I get them finalized – so stay tuned. Also I’d…

Another New Painting

In My Garden is a Purple PalmAcrylic on Paper8″ x 10″Unframed$325 I finished another palm painting that I had started a couple weeks ago. I like the purple color I used with the yellow and oranges. Meanwhile I’m also working on my lyrical world paintings but I’m finding they are not coming as easy as I thought they would. I think I’ll do some sketches tomorrow and loosen up my imagination with some rough designs. I haven’t painted the lyrical…

Painting in the studio

I’m enjoying painting in the studio under the palapa. It gets sorta windy up there though and I’ve had to put up some tapestry blankets on one side to cut the wind. It works pretty good. Today I’m working on more bird paintings (raven) and lyrical worlds. I’ll post some images of these new paintings soon. Sharing is nice FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestStumbleUponemailTumblr

“She Heard the Desert Calling“Approx. image size 6.75″ x 6″Acrylic on Paper, Unframed$195 Today I found myself really contemplating what I want to spend my time painting. Palm tree paintings in the works

I’m still working on this palm tree painting but I thought I’d show how it’s going so far. I had my studio all set up with the paints out, the paper ready, water in a container, my spray bottle at hand, my apron on, the brushes out and then…blank…what to paint? Pressure was on. I had made some sketches but they didn’t strike me as what I wanted to paint at that moment. Then I looked out at my view…
