I was feeling pretty good about myself last week. Eating right, doing the 30/30 (30 min. of exercise for 30 days), making art, feeling really healthy physically, mentally, creatively, spiritually. All around pretty pleased with how things were going.
Then last Friday, Greg came down with a nasty cold. He felt pretty bad. On Sat. I bought him his favorite foods, cooked for him, made sure there was plenty of vitamin C and echinacea for him to take… I told myself, I’m not going to catch his cold, I’m so healthy….blah, blah, blah.
Well, I did. I caught his cold!. Monday morning I felt that little tickle in the throat….here it comes.
By Monday afternoon my head felt like a huge weight. Stuffed up, eyes watering, throat feeling yucky. Rats! I felt miserable. I just wanted sleep.
The healthy eating kept up though. I made Alicia’s yummy Magical Healing Soup from my fav cookbook “The Kind Diet”. But the exercise didn’t. It turned into stretching and sleeping.
Sometimes, I think we get sick and we fail to see how else we can spend our time productively and the merits of slowing down. My body was saying rest, try something different. What could I do? I picked up a book! I did some reading. How nice. I love to read! How come I’m not reading more?
When I stop and take time to notice these things then I see the gift! Slowing down and reading.
So I was feeling pretty run down from the cold but was reminding myself to be gentle and slow down and stop worrying about it. I would get better. Greg was already almost back to normal and it had been 4 days. I was on day 2!
On Tues. I recieved an email from Amanda’s Kind Over Matter Blog. She was inviting her readers to take an e-course titled “Be Gentle, Be Love – 30 Days of Cultivating Your Virtues with Creativity“. I don’t know if it was because I was feeling blue with the miserable cold and needed a pick-me up or because I felt I needed some inspiration with my art but I signed up for the e-course without a second thought.

I love that one can go at their own pace. Dabble with it everyday, every other day or when ever you want. You can save the emails and ponder them, act on them, or just let them sit till you’re ready for them.
So far I’ve downloaded the Printable pack of fun stuff to help one create and received two daily emails from Amanda. I love all of it! ….but since I haven’t been feeling well, I haven’t done anything but read them and muse about what I could do with the prompts and the cool art things in the printable pack!
Tomorrow I will be able to participate more as I know I’ll be almost back to my old self!
